Arnautovic expects big things at ‘perfect’ West Ham

Marko Arnautovic has been speaking following his transfer to West Ham United, who he believes have a ‘perfect’ team for the forthcoming season.

The Hammers finished 11th in the Premier League last term, which was viewed as a disappointment following the previous campaign when they ended seventh and qualified for Europe. Much of their dip was attributed to their move to the Olympic Stadium, after leaving the fierce Upton Park.

Manager Slaven Bilic will certainly be expecting a better performance from his side this time round, and he has added some quality to his squad in the shape of goalkeeper Joe Hart, defender Pablo Zabaleta, striker Javier Hernandez and, at a club record £25million, forward Arnautovic.

This already represents a satisfactory summer for the capital club, and there could be more arrivals before the window shuts in September. But their acquisition from Stoke City believes even without further signings, he has joined a club who are destined to deliver in the coming months.

“I wanted to join West Ham because, for me, it’s a bigger club and more ambitious. We can see with the signings that we’ve made and the players that are already at the club,” 28-year-old Arnautovic told Sky Sports. “I think we have a perfect team and now we have to show it on the pitch.”

West Ham begin their campaign with a difficult trip to Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United, which will provide Hernandez with an early return to his previous club in England. And Arnautovic has no doubts that the £16million recruit from Bayer Leverkusen will have a huge impact at West Ham.

“Chicharito has had a very good career,” said the Austrian. “He was at Man United and then when he left, he went to Real Madrid and then Leverkusen. He is the perfect striker. “You cannot say anything about Hernandez because we know he’s a very good player and we’re happy that he join us now.

“We hope he’ll score a lot of goals like he did in the Bundesliga, and for Manchester United, Real Madrid or even for at international level with Mexico. I will be happy when he’s here in the next days and when joins us on the training pitch. Like I said we cannot wait to get the season started.”
