Aaron Ramsey has dismissed speculation linking him with Barcelona, although he admits he is flattered by the speculation.
The Wales international has had to overcome a number of injury problems since joining Arsenal in 2008, but has gone on to establish himself as one of the best midfielders in Europe. He has now gone on to make 225 appearances for the Gunners, and has scored 37 goals some of which have been crucial to Arsene Wenger’s side.
Ramsey, who scored the winning goal in the 2014 FA Cup final to end Arsenal’s nine-year trophy drought, was named the club’s Player of the Year in 2013/14, is currently under a long-term contract at the Emirates, but has been linked with a move to Barcelona who have just won the La Liga, Copa del Rey, and UEFA Champions League treble.
Although the Catalans are currently in the midst of a transfer ban, they can still agree to sign players for when this suspension if lifted in the New Year; for instance, they have wrapped up a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Arda Turan. But if they expect Ramsey to follow suit, they face disappointment as the 24-year-old remains committed to the Gunners.
“Obviously it is very nice to hear that I have been linked with one of the best teams in the world but I am under contract with Arsenal and feel that this team is definitely going places,” Ramsey, who has 34 caps for Wales, told Sky Sports. “We have a fantastic few years ahead and hopefully we can go on and win a few things with Arsenal.”
