Thomas Muller wasn’t surprised to find he has been linked with a move to Barcelona, after his recent visit to the Catalan capital.
The German international has established himself as one of the biggest names in European football, due to his performances for club and country. Muller already has 16 goals from 46 appearances for Die Mannschaft, whilst the honours he has helped Bayern Munich win since 2010 include a UEFA Champions League and two Bundesliga titles.
Having been spotted in Barcelona recently the 24-year-old was, perhaps predictably, linked with a move to the Camp Nou at the end of the season. However, the forward insists his visit to Catalonia was for personal reasons, and whilst he is flattered to be linked with the Spanish giants, he claims such speculation was obvious after his trip.
“I was in Barcelona for personal reasons, but these things immediately appear online nowadays,” Muller told Sky90. “Of course, it is flattering when you’re being linked to a club like Barcelona. I am very happy at Bayern, though. Bayern mean a lot to me and have a place in my heart. I hope to stay at Bayern for many more years to come.”
Muller, who helped his club to the treble last season, has figured heavily during Pep Guardiola’s debut season at the Allianz Arena. He has featured in all of their league and Champions League matches thus far, scoring four goals in the process, whilst he was also in the starting line up for the UEFA Super Cup triumph over Chelsea.
