Brentford have completed the signing of France Under-21 international Neal Maupay.
It is understood that the Championship side have paid £1.6million for the 20-year-old striker, who has been under contract at Saint Etienne since arriving from Nice two years ago.
Maupay spent last season on loan at Ligue 2 side Brest, and it is here where he caught the interest of the Bees having scored 11 goals and assisting one more from his 28 appearances.
“He has a really good personality and character to go with his skill level,” head coach Dean Smith said on Friday. “We are very lucky to have got him and I look forward to working with him.”
Maupay, who has one goal from two under-21 caps for Les Bleus, may be joined at Griffin Park by fellow striker Ollie Watkins, who is expected to join the club from Exeter City.
