Cardiff City have added Maximiliano Amondarain to their squad.
The Uruguay Under-20 international trained with the Premier League new-boys earlier this summer, when he impressed Malky Mackay. And the Bluebirds boss has now handed the defender a four-year contract, as he looks to add more strength to his options.
Amondarain, who has previously played for Nacional and Progreso, was part of his national side that reached the final of the FIFA Under-20 World Cup final in Turkey this July. He becomes Cardiff’s sixth signing since they earned promotion to the top-flight last season.
Mackay’s side started the campaign with a defeat at West Ham United, but bounced back in sensational style when they beat Manchester City 3-2 last weekend. They will be looking for a repeat of this performance on Saturday, when Roberto Martinez’s Everton visit.
