Chadli advises Benteke to pick Tottenham Hotspur

Christian Benteke is expected to be one of the big transfer stories of the summer window, and Nacer Chadli hopes the striker ends up at Tottenham Hotspur.

Benteke has two years left on his current contract at Aston Villa, but this also includes a buyout clause allowing a club to sign him for a fee of £32.5million. Tim Sherwood is hoping this valuation may deter potential suitors from expressing an interest in his star man, but the player is sure to be an enticing prospect after ending the season with 12 goals in his final 13 matches.

This has sparked the interest of a number of Premier League rivals, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur all believed to be interest in signing the forward who cost Villa a bargain of just £7million when he joined from Genk in the summer of 2012. And should the 24-year-old leave the Midlands, Chadli would welcome his compatriot to White Hart Lane.

“I hope it’s going to happen but first they have to attract him and there are a lot of clubs who want him. Christian has to make his choice, and hopefully he’s going to choose for us,” said the Spurs midfielder, who will line up alongside Benteke as Belgium take on Wales on Friday night in a match which could determine which side finish top in Group B of the Euro 2016 qualifiers.
