Crystal Palace willing to take £23m chance on Mangala

Crystal Palace look set to finally land a new central defender, with reports suggesting they are closing on a £23million deal for Eliaquim Mangala.

Frank de Boer has made a top-class centre-half one of his top targets all summer, but has failed to reach an agreement with Liverpool for Mamadou Sakho was so impressed on loan last season.

It now appears as though the Eagles boss will instead find his defender from another Premier League rival, with Manchester City’s Mangala poised to join the Selhurst Park club for a fee of £23million.

The France international has endured a difficult time at the Etihad Stadium since arriving from Porto two years ago for £31.8million, and he spent last season on loan in Spain with Valencia.
