CHAMPIONSHIP: Derby County have signed Craig Forsyth on loan.
Nigel Clough has been looking to add to his options following an injury to Jamie Ward, who suffered a hamstring injury during the 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Friday. The 26-year-old has at the outset been ruled out of action for at least two matches, but having sat out three months with a similar injury earlier this season, it could be longer.
The Rams have now bolstered their options by taking Forsythe from Watford for an initial period of one month. Whilst not a direct replacement for their leading goalscorer, the 24-year-old left-sided midfield player will at least offer the Pride Park club more options, as they look to recover from their recent slump which has seen them fall closer to the Championship relegation places than the playoffs for promotion.
“Craig is someone we’ve been aware of for a while and we’ve been impressed whenever we’ve seen him in action,” revealed Clough. “The injuries we’ve picked up of late have obviously been frustrating, but it’s presented us with a chance to bring Craig in. We’ve got options up front, but we’ve been left a little bit short in midfield so Craig’s arrival certainly strengthens that area.”
