Newcastle United are likely to be without Florian Lejeune and Paul Dummett for several weeks, after the pair picked up injuries on Sunday afternoon.
Fullback Dummett lasted just seven minutes of the 2-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, before a hamstring injury forced him out of action.
Summer signing Lejeune then added to the defensive worries at St James’ Park when he too had to leave the field, having suffered ankle ligament damage following a challenge from Harry Kane.
It has now been revealed that both players are expected to miss a number of weeks, in a blow which is sure to increase the frustration already being felt by head coach Rafael Benitez.
Not only did the Magpies suffer a loss on their return to the top-flight, but they were reduced to ten-men when Jonjo Shelvey was dismissed for a stamp on fellow midfielder Dele Alli.
Benitez will hope to get back to winning ways this Sunday when his side are once more in front of the television cameras, as they take on Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium.
