Eden Hazard insists there is no chance he will join Paris St Germain in the summer, and is instead in talks over a new contract at Chelsea.
The Belgian international left French football and Lille when he signed for the Blues in the summer of 2012, in a deal which was worth around £32million. Should the Premier League giants place him on the market now, they could likely demand twice this amount, such is the impact the 23-year-old has had whilst in the English capital.
Indeed, it has been widely reported that moneybags PSG are prepared to pay big for Hazard ahead of next season, when they will be looking to wrestle the UEFA Champions League crown from Real Madrid. However, the player has ruled out a return to Ligue 1, and has revealed that he in talks about extending his stay at Stamford Bridge.
“I won’t go to PSG, I am staying at Chelsea 100 per cent,” he told La Derniere Heure. “We are talking with Chelsea about a contract extension, but there’s no hurry on that. Of course in football you never know but I am under contract with Chelsea and I want to stay there. It is only the beginning of the talks right now so we have time, but the fact that Chelsea have offered me a new deal means they have a lot of confidence in me.”
Jose Mourinho’s men ended the season without a trophy last time round, and finished third in the Premier League standings. Next term they will again be expected to mount a title bid, and will also be amongst the favourites to conquer Europe. A deal has already been agreed for Diego Costa, the Atletico Madrid striker, whilst it has also been heavily reported that Barcelona’s former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is set to join for £30million.
Meanwhile, Bundesliga new-boys Cologne are close to concluding a loan deal for Tomas Kalas. The highly-rated defender shot to prominence with an excellent display in the 2-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield towards the end of last season, and Chelsea are prepared to let him join the German club for a period of what could be two years.
According to Sky Sports, Mourinho is also ready to let Islam Feruz spend next season away from Chelsea. The 18-year-old, a Scotland Under-21 international, is rated as one of the best young talents at Stamford Bridge, and the Portuguese coach is keen to loan him out so he can get regular first team football. Brighton & Hove Albion, Cardiff City, Derby County and Reading are all said to be interested in the forward.
