Swansea City have wasted little time in spending part of the cash they received for Gylfi Sigurdsson, with Sam Clucas close to joining the Welsh club.
The Swans felt they had little choice but to let talisman Sigurdsson join Everton last week, when the Merseyside club offered a package worth £45million for the playmaker. With the window set to close next week, this has given Paul Clement little time to reinvest this bounty on his own squad.
However, he has acted quick to agree a fee – believed to be £16.5million – with Hull City for Clucas. The 26-year-old had previously been the subject of interest from Burnley earlier this summer, but it now appears as though the midfielder will head to the Liberty Stadium instead.
Clucas is expected to finalise his move to the Premier League club within the next 48 hours, and he could debut at Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon. The transfer will also be good news for his former club Chesterfield, who are entitled to five percent of any fee over the value of £1.3million.
