Inter Milan have strengthened their back four options, by making Sampdoria defender Milan Skriniar their first signing of the summer at £29million.
The Nerazzurri finished seventh place in Serie A last season, meaning they have missed out on qualification to the UEFA Europa League by just the one point.
New head coach Luciano Spalletti expects hi side to make a rapid improvement on that placing this time round, and the former Roma boss will be given cash to improve his squad.
And Inter have now made their first signing of the summer, by spending a tad over £29million to take Slovakia international Skriniar from Sampdoria on a five-year contract.
The 22-year-old only arrived in Italian football 18 months ago when La Samp paid £1million to lure him from MSK Zilina, so they have made a handsome profit on their outlay for the player.
Skriniar finished last season as the youngest defender to have made at least 35 appearances in Serie A, and was named in the European Under-21 Championship Team of the Tournament this summer.
