Inter Milan are being tipped to sign Jonathan Calleri for €14million in the New Year, before loaning him out for the rest of the season.
Roberto Mancini’s side have a genuine chance of winning a first Scudetto since 2010 this season, and are expected to further strengthen their options when the window reopens. However, it is thought their biggest recruit will be Calleri, who is being tipped to join from Boca Juniors for €14million – and he will play no part in their quest for a 19th Serie A title this term.
According to tuttosport the Nerazzurri are closing on a deal for the 22-year-old, who has 10 goals in 26 league matches for his current club, but will then loan him out for the remainder of the campaign as there are no more EU places left in their squad. The Argentine could still showcase his talent in Italy, though, with both Bologna and Chievo willing to take him on.
However, when asked about the move, Inter director Piero Ausilio said: “We are tracking him, he has an interesting profile, but right now there is nothing more. I read some things that made me smile. There is no deal. We worked very hard over the summer and if you do things right then January can be relatively calm. We don’t need big changes. Roberto Mancini did a great job.”
