Noel Hunt is on the verge of leaving Leeds United for Ipswich Town, in what will be an initial loan deal until the start of the New Year.
As has been reported over the past couple of weeks, it is more likely that Leeds will offload players before the emergency loan window closes rather than add to their squad. A deal to allow Nicky Ajose to spend the remainder of the calendar year at League One side Crewe Alexandra has already been agreed, and now it looks as though his fellow striker Hunt is also on the way out.
The former Republic of Ireland international has been at Elland Road since Brian McDermott took him from his old club Reading in the summer of 2013, but he has failed to score a single competitive goal for the Whites. Having made just one league appearance this season, in the 2-0 defeat at Millwall back in August, he is one of several players Neil Redfearn is happy to move on.
And according to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Hunt is on the verge of sealing a temporary switch to Ipswich. It is believed the Portman Road club, who are fourth in the Championship standings after an impressive start to the campaign, will take the 31-year-old on loan for the rest of the year, but could take him permanently when his contract expires at the end of the season.
