Midfielder Scowen signs for Queens Park Rangers

Queens Park Rangers have completed the free transfer signing of Josh Scowen.

The 24-year-old made 44 appearances in all competitions for Barnsley last season, but clearly felt his future lay elsewhere after he rejected their offer of a new contract.

After speaking with both Ian Holloway and Les Ferdinand in recent days, Scowen is delighted to have put pen-to-paper on a three-year contract at QPR where he expects to play a big part.

“When I met Ian Holloway and Les Ferdinand they made me welcome and made me feel like I was going to be a big part of their plans, which is always great to hear,” he said.

Scowen becomes QPR’s first signing of the summer, but the second big departure in as many days for Barnsley who have also lost captain Marc Roberts to Birmingham City.

They have, however, signed defender Ethan Pinnock from Forest Green Rovers, and Lloyd Isgrove has rejoined from Southampton to become their seventh addition.
