Old Trafford’s Keane twins could face each other after sealing loan deals

Michael and Will Keane have left Manchester United in loan deals, and could face each other when they debt for their temporary clubs at the weekend.

England Under-21 international Michael Keane, a centre-back, has joined Derby County on a short-term deal until January 2. The 20-year-old has made two League Cup appearances for the Reds, and last season featured 22 times for Leicester City in a loan switch.

Twin brother Will, who has also represented England at Under-21 level, has one Premier League appearances to his name, having come on as a substitute in a 3-2 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers on New Year’s Eve in 2011.  A cruciate knee ligament forced the young striker out of last season, but he will now be hoping to get some regular first team action under his belt having linked up with Wigan Athletic until January 1.

And in a funny quirk of fate, the Keane twins could come up against each other on Sunday afternoon, when the Rams travel to the DW Stadium for a Championship fixture. The visitors will be looking to close on a playoff position should they collect three points, whilst a win for the home side would see them draw level with the opponents.

Derby, meanwhile, have loaned out goalkeeper Mats Morch, who has joined non-league Gresley FC until the New Year. The Norwegian, a product of the Pride Park youth academy, has yet to make his debut for the first team since signing his first professional contract last season, but spent time on loan at Burton Albion earlier this term.
