Paris Saint-Germain have completed the £35.5million transfer of Julian Draxler, who had previously been linked with a move to the Premier League.
The 23-year-old is regarded as one of the best talents in European football, and was part of the Germany squad which won the 2014 World Cup. He began his career with Schalke, making 119 league appearances before joining Wolfsburg for £30million in the summer of 2015 when he was also heavily linked with a move to Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal.
Draxler has played 45 times in all competitions for the Volkswagen Arena club, who expected a battle to retain his services due to their poor form this season. And it has now been confirmed that the forward has joined Ligue 1 champions PSG, who have paid a fee of £35.million for his signature whilst securing him on a four-and-a-half-year contract.
“It is with great joy and great anticipation that I join Paris Saint-Germain,” Draxler told PSG’s official website. “For the first time in my career, I’m going to discover a new country, a new league, and I’m very proud to take this new step at a club which has become a benchmark in Europe and has signed a lot of great players in recent years. I will do everything to help PSG win new trophies and continue to grow internationally.”
