QPR boss seeks more firepower in January window

Harry Redknapp has confirmed he aims to add to his Queens Park Rangers squad in January, with a forward top of his wanted list.

Redknapp may be able to boast one of the country’s leading marksmen this season in Charlie Austin, who has 12 goals, but aside from the former Burnley striker only five players have scored in the Premier League for the capital club. This is something which has contributed to their disappointing campaign to date, as they lie just two points above the relegation zone.

It is unclear how much money the QPR boss will have to deal with when the window reopens next week, or indeed if he will be left scouring the loan market for additions. But speaking after the goalless draw against the currently managerless Crystal Palace, the Loftus Road boss revealed that he intends to bolster his squad for the second half of the season with at least one new forward.

“We are short. We only have two out-and-out strikers,” Redknapp told Sky Sports. “We need another forward. We need options if we get injuries. We are looking at loans, but it is very difficult as who is going to loan you top players to play in the Premier League? We have people out looking everywhere, but we may even need a favour from one of the managers at a top club.”
