Ronaldo will finish his playing career at Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo will spend the rest of his playing career in the colours of Real Madrid, according to his agent Jorge Mendes.

The Portuguese forward has been at the Bernabeu since Los Blancos paid a then-world record £80million to take him from Manchester United in the summer of 2009, and he has gone on to establish himself as arguably the best player on the planet. Indeed, this is a status which was secured when he pipped great rival Lionel Messi to the Ballon d’Or last December.

Ronaldo is under contract in the Spanish capital until the summer of 2018, but he has often been linked with a return to United who he clearly still retains great affection for. However, his agent has all but ruled out such a move for the player, who as well as being described as the best player in Real’s history, looks set to remain at the club until the day he hangs his boots up.

“I believe that Cristiano will finish his career at Real Madrid. He’s happy at the club and still wants to achieve more,” Mendes told Globo Esporte. “With every respect to the likes of Raul and Alfredo Di Stefano, no player can compare to Cristiano. He’s the best player in history and, I’d suggest, the best sportsperson of all time – we’ll never see the likes of Cristiano again. It will be completely impossible.”

Whilst at Old Trafford, Ronaldo three Premier League titles, an FA Cup, two League Cups and a UEFA Champions League. At Real, he has won one La Liga title, two Copa del Rey’s, and last season he inspired them to La Decima – their tenth Champions League success. He has also won the FIFA World Club Cup with both clubs, the last of which came just earlier this month.
