Scott Sinclair is edging ever nearer to ending his nightmare spell at Manchester City, with Aston Villa set to take him on loan for the rest of the season.
The 25-year-old joined the Blues from Swansea City in the summer of 2012, but he has made just 19 appearances for the Etihad Stadium club since. He spent last term on loan at West Bromwich Albion, making 11 outings, and City coach Manuel Pellegrini made it clear ahead of the current campaign that the forward should probably leave to reignite his career elsewhere.
Villa were linked with a move for Sinclair earlier this month, but they have been unable to meet his valuation of £3.5million to take him to the Midlands on a permanent basis. It now looks likely that the former Chelsea youngster could now join the Premier League strugglers on loan for the remainder of the season, with the view to something more concrete during the summer.
Indeed, according to Sky Sports, Sinclair has already passed a medical with Villa, and will now discuss personal terms ahead of his move. If this is all settled within the next 24 hours or so, he could make his debut when they take on Arsenal on Sunday afternoon. This would be a huge boost for Paul Lambert’s side, who are currently 15th in the table and just three points above relegation.
