Spanish midfielder Suso grabbed a brace for Milan on Sunday evening, but still had to settle for a point as Internazionale battled for a 2-2 draw in the Derby della Madonnina.
The Rossoneri were looking to move up to second place in the Serie A standings with a win over their city rivals, and despite a poor showing in the first half, they went into the break a goal to the good when Suso scored his first goal at the San Siro. This lead was cancelled out after 53 minutes, when Andrea Candreva fired past Gianluigi Donnarumma from 30 yards.
The stalemate lasted just five minutes when Suso, formerly of Liverpool and Genoa, collected a pass from Carlos Bacca before skipping past Miranda and placing the ball into the far corner. This looked to have secured all three points, but the Nerazzurri scored a dramatic leveller when Ivan Perisic popped up inside the box to tuck away in the 92nd minute.
This result leaves Milan in third place, but they will be comforted by the fact they at least drew level on points with second-placed Roma. The Giallorossi suffered a 2-1 defeat to Atalanta on Saturday, an outcome which puts Gian Piero Gasperini’s side firmly in the hunt for UEFA Champions League qualification as they lie just a point off the pack.
