Despite featuring heavily for Millwall this season, Liam Trotter has been allowed to join Championship rivals Bolton Wanderers on loan.
The midfielder has been at The Den since January 2010, and has pretty much been a regular first team fixture ever since. He has averaged 35 league games in each of his three full seasons in the capital, and has also made 19 appearances this term.
However, new Millwall boss Ian Holloway appears to be seeking fresh faces for his future plans, and has allowed Trotter to join Bolton for the rest of the season. Considering the Trotters are two points ahead of the Lions at the wrong end of the division, this is likely to be viewed as something of a surprise deal on transfer deadline day.
A statement on the official Bolton website confirmed: “Bolton Wanderers can announce the signing of Liam Trotter from Millwall on loan for the remainder of the 2013/14 season. The 25-year-old has been handed shirt number 17 and subject to clearance he is eligible to play in Saturday’s league game away at Ipswich Town.”
Meanwhile, Bolton have also signed winger Yannick Bastos from Luxembourg side FC Differdange 03. The winger, who has joined on a permanent basis on an eighteen month contract for an undisclosed fee, said: “I am really happy to be in Bolton. It is a dream that really came true and I am very proud to be here.”
