Arsenal consider offering compromise in attempt to keep Sanchez

Arsenal are reportedly considering offering Alexis Sanchez a compromise deal which would see him remain at the club for at least one more season.

The Chile international is in the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium, and has thus far shown no indication that he is prepared to sign fresh terms. It has been widely reported that the forward has instead set his sights on a move to Premier League rivals Manchester City.

The Mirror claim the 28-year-old is now considering handing in a transfer request in an attempt to seal a switch to the Etihad Stadium, where he would be reunited with his former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola. The Blues, for their part, are willing to pay as much as £50million for his signature.

However, it is also being claimed that Arsene Wenger will make one last bid to persuade Sanchez to sign a new contract. It has been suggested that the club will offer the forward £300,000-per-week to sign a one-year extension, with the promise to consider listening to offers from other clubs next summer.

This would perhaps appear to be the best outcome the Gunners could hope for at the moment. And if they are able to launch a genuine, and maybe successful, bid for a first Premier League title this season, it may even persuade Sanchez to further extend his stay in the English capital.
