Defender has no plans to quit Juventus despite lack of action

Martin Caceres is wanted by both Napoli and Roma this month, but his agent claims he has no intention of leaving Juventus despite a lack of playing time.

The 26-year-old made 18 appearances for the Bianconeri as they successfully defended their title last season, and this time round he has played just twice in Serie A. This has led to speculation that he could depart the Turin giants during the transfer window, with the Partenopei and Il Giallorossi both said to be interested.

Either move would not only give Caceres a better chance of regular first team football, but it would also allow him the opportunity to challenge for the Scudetto as both sides chase Juve at the head of Serie A. However, the agent of the former Sevilla star has played down a transfer, insisting his client has no plans to quit the Old Lady.

“Roma, Napoli and other big clubs asked about Martin Caceres,” Daniel Fonseca told tuttosport. “However, Martin is in love with Juventus and wants to remain in Turin. Of course I expected him to play more, because he is a very strong defender, but it’s only normal at a big club like Juve to have a large squad full of quality.”

Despite his lack of first team football, Caceres’ place in the Uruguay squad for the World Cup Finals is unlikely to be in doubt. The right fullback has amassed 55 caps for his country, and featured heavily in their successful qualification for Rio, which was clinched with a 5-0 aggregate playoff win against Jordan back in October.
