Ince will leave Blackpool, but not during January window

Paul Ince accepts his son will leave Blackpool in the near future, but insists the winger will remain at the club for the remainder of the season.

Thomas Ince has long been considered one of the best young talents in England, and has been linked with a move to the Premier League for some time. Indeed, it would probably be quicker to list those top-flight sides who have not been credited with an interest in the winger, than mention those who are said to be monitoring him.

The England Under-21 international is out of contract at the end of the season, so it is only natural that the Tangerines could be forced to cash in now rather than settle for a compensation figure in the summer. However, Ince senior, manager of the Lancashire club, has assured fans that his son will not be leaving…at least not just yet.

“Thomas loves playing for this club and loves the fans,” the former England international told the Blackpool Gazette. “It’s only natural he will move on eventually, but that will not be in this window. He wants to help the players and fans stay in this league.”

The Ince’s were spotted in France this week, and are believed to have been in discussions with Monaco about a switch to the Ligue 1 club at the end of the season. Such a move is perhaps the last thing Blackpool would want, as he would be able to move to an overseas club for a compensation fee much less than the one a club at home would pay.
