Inter set to wrap up loan deal for Portugal international

Internazionale are set to secure the services of Rolando.

The Portugal international has been linked with a move to the Nerazzurri for much of the summer, as Walter Mazzarri looks to bolster a back four which conceded more goals than any other side in the top half of the Serie A table last term. Indeed, Andrea Stramaccioni’s successor has already added two new defenders to his options, having brought Hugo Campagnaro with him from Napoli and taken Marco Andreolli back from Chievo.

And it now looks almost certain that Rolando will also head to the San Siro. The 27-year-old flew into Italy earlier this week, and had dinner with Inter officials on Friday evening before undergoing medical tests on Saturday. He has now returned to his homeland to sort out the final issues of his switch, which is expected to be a season-long loan deal.

Rolando, who made seven Serie A appearances under Mazzarri during a loan spell in Naples last season, began his professional career with Belenenses in 2004. He spent four years at Estadio de Restelo before moving to Porto, where he has won three league titles, a Uefa Europa League, and three Portuguese Cups, whilst earning 18 international caps.

Sky Sports Italia, meanwhile, claim Inter will also land Wallace on a temporary basis next week. The 19-year-old right wing-back, who featured for parent club Chelsea in pre-season, is expected in Milan in the coming days to undergo a medical.
