Leeds United are determined to retain the services of Chris Wood, and have offered their star striker a new contract in a bid to stave off rival interest.
The 25-year-old has established himself as perhaps the hottest marksman in the Football League, having scored 40 times for the Whites ahead of the current campaign. And he has clearly lost none of his sharpness over the summer, opening his account this term on the opening weekend.
Wood was the subject of interest from Burnley during the pre-season, and it appears as though the Premier League side remain interested in his signature as reports suggest a new bid in the region of £12million has been tabled for the former West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City player.
Leeds, though, know the New Zealand international is an integral part of their bid to gain promotion from the Championship, and have rejected all offers so far. And Sky Sports claim the Elland Road club have now offered him a new three-year deal in an attempt to stave off further interest.
