Manchester City remain determined to sign Alexis Sanchez before Thursday’s transfer deadline, and are prepared to offer Raheem Sterling as part of the potential deal.
The future of Sanchez has been one of the hot topics of the summer, as he entered the final 12 months of his contract at Arsenal without any intention of extending his stay in the capital.
City have long made the Chile international one of their top targets, and although Arsene Wenger has continued to stress the forward is not for sale, there could soon be a breakthrough.
It is understood the two clubs have been in contact in recent days to discuss a potential transfer, and the Blues are thought to have offered a package of £20million plus Sterling.
Whilst this comes as a surprise to the 22-year-old, he is understood to be willing to return to London where he began his career at Queens Park Rangers before moving to Liverpool.
The Gunners deny receiving any bids for Sanchez, but numerous sources are now reporting the firm interest from Pep Guardiola’s side and it appears a deal could finally be on the cards.
The 28-year-old began his first game of the season on Sunday in the 4-0 trouncing at Anfield, having overcome apparent illness and injury to appear in what was an awful performance.
