Nottingham Forest have signed Bojan Jokic on loan from Villarreal, as Dougie Freedman finds cover for the long-term injured Dani Pinillos.
Freedman was forced into the market this month when Pinillos, who had played 19 times in the Championship this term, suffered a knee injury which is destined to keep him out of action for the remainder of the campaign. The Scot has acted relatively swiftly, taking Jokic on loan from Spanish side Villarreal for whom he has played just seven times this season.
The 29-year-old left fullback arrives at the City Ground with an abundance of experience, having collected 75 international caps for Slovenia since making his debut a decade ago. He has been at El Madrigal since 2013, prior to which he spent four years in Italy with Chievo. Prior to this he spent three years in France with Sochaux, his first spell away from his native country.
Jokic could make his debut for his temporary club on Saturday afternoon, when second-tier rivals Queens Park Rangers are the visitors for a third-round FA Cup tie. Whilst a playoff spot is the priority for Forest, Freedman said on Friday: “As a player, I really enjoyed the FA Cup and, with this club’s history, it’s only right that I treat this competition with the utmost respect.”
