£198m Neymar set for PSG after Barca grant training absence

Neymar is on the verge of a world record £198million switch to Paris Saint Germain, after Barcelona allowed him to miss training to tie up the move.

Along with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, Neymar has forged one of the most productive front lines in football history at the Camp Nou. But this trio – often referred to as MSN – now appears to be on the brink of a break-up, with the Brazil international edging ever nearer to the French capital.

PSG have agreed to meet the £198million buyout clause in the forward’s contract, which is set to easily make him the most expensive footballer of all-time. And despite Barca initially hoping to block the transfer, UEFA have confirmed there is nothing the Spanish giants can do if the fee is met.

It has now transpired that the 25-year-old spent around 40 minutes at the club’s training ground on Wednesday, when he informed them of his pending move to Paris. This was after he was given permission by his current employers to miss training so he could resolve his future.

Neymar and his representatives will now hold talks with the Ligue 1 club to finalise a move, which could all be confirmed as early as this week. It will not, however, be wrapped up in time for him to make his debut for his likely new club when their new campaign begins at home to Amiens on Saturday.
