Nani tipped for £10million summer switch to Paris St Germain

Nani has been linked with a £10million move to Paris St Germain.

Nani has been at Manchester United since the summer of 2007, when Sir Alex Ferguson paid £17million to take him from Sporting Lisbon. The Portugal international has gone on to help the Reds win three Premier League titles and a UEFA Champions League, but he has failed to establish himself as a first team regular as he continues to frustrate and impress in equal measure.

This has been by far the most unproductive season since he arrived at Old Trafford, with just 10 Premier League appearances to his name, of which only six have come from a starting position. And with his contract set to enter its final 12 months in the summer, coupled with the pending arrival of Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, Nani appears to be on borrowed time.

According to The Mirror, cash-rich French side PSG are prepared to offer £10million for the 26-year-old, and whilst this would represent a loss on a player who has yet to reach his peak, it may be a bid too tempting for United to refuse. Carlo Ancelotti’s side will also have no qualms of handing the forward a handsome joining fee, as well as meeting his £100,000-per-week wage demands.

PSG, backed by their Qatari owners, are determined to establish themselves as a major force in the European game. They are currently nine points clear in the Ligue 1 table as they seek a first league title since 1994, and they reached the last eight of the UEFA Champions League whey they last week narrowly lost out on aggregate to a Lionel Messi inspired Barcelona.

The potential addition of Nani would unlikely be their only big-name signing of the summer, with a host of other names being linked in recent weeks. Indeed, they have also been linked with another raid on Old Trafford, this time for Wayne Rooney. This would be one of the most sensational deals of the window, and one which would certainly make the rest of Europe sit up and take notice.
