Sheffield Wednesday fail with £3m Morrison bid

According to Sky Sports, Sheffield Wednesday have failed with a £3million offer to take Sean Morrison from Championship rivals Cardiff City.

The Owls failed to secure promotion to the Premier League last season, when they lost out to Huddersfield Town in the playoff semi-final on penalties.

Despite this, Carlos Carvalhal has agreed to stay on at Hillsborough next season, as the club look to return to a top-flight they have not competed in since 2000.

The Portuguese coach will be given funds to improve his squad during the window, but an opening offer of £3million for Morrison has been rejected by the Bluebirds.

Neil Warnock has already allowed six players to leave Cardiff since the end of last season, but he is determined to keep a player who was appointed club captain last year.

Morrison, 26, has been at the Welsh club after joining from Reading in the summer of 2014, and he has made 119 appearances in all competitions, scoring 13 goals.
