Watford striker Ighalo completes transfer to China

Odion Ighalo is the latest name to make a move to the Chinese Super League, with the striker joining Changchun Yatai for a reported fee of £20million.

The Nigerian international has been in England since joining Watford, initially on loan, in 2014 and he has gone on to score 36 league goals for the Vicarage Road club.

This included an impressive haul of 15 last season as the Hornets retained their Premier League status, but this term he has only found the back of the net on two occasions.

Ighalo was linked with a move to China earlier this month, and Watford head coach Walter Mazzarri recently admitted the club had received an important offer for him.

It has now been confirmed that the 27-year-old has sealed his move to Changchun Yatai, who are thought to have paid as much as £20million to land the striker.

Ighalo’s departure has been offset by the arrivals of Mauro Zarate, on a two-and-a-half year contract, and M’Baye Niang who has joined the Hornets on loan for the rest of the season.
